The Finnish company behind Nokia, HMD Global is expected to launch new smartphones at MWC 2017 event on 26th February as we previously saw the company announcing its February 26th event for the MWC 2017 via an official Facebook page post. Now, the company has started sending the invites for the event and Evan Blass has shared it via Venturebeat.
According to Evan Blass, the Finnish company will launch two more devices at the MWC 2017 event which includes the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. The company may also reveal its plans for the expansion of the Nokia 6 smartphone that they have already launched last month and is available only in China currently.
Nokia devices expected at MWC 2017
According to the rumors, HMD Global will launch the Nokia 5 with Snapdragon 430 processor as we saw with the Nokia 6. The Nokia 5 will feature a 5.2-inch display with an HD display having a 1280×720 pixel resolution. It will have 2GB of RAM and will have 16GB or 32GB inbuilt storage option as the base variant. It will feature a 12-megapixel rear camera as per Evan Blass while the other details about the phone are currently unknown.
Evan Blass also confirmed that the Nokia 5 will be priced at around €199 (around $211) and the smaller Nokia 3 will be priced at around €149 (around $157). The Nokia 3 will be an entry-level Android smartphone and most probably, both the new devices will be first available in China and then in other regions.
To recall, the Nokia 6 was announced in January 2017 at the CES 2017 event with a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved glass display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex A53) processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB internal storage capacity with microSD card expandable storage up to 128 GB.
Running Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS out of the box, it supports dual-SIMs. It features a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, 1.0um sensor, f/2.0 aperture and we have an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with 1.12um sensor, f/2.0 aperture and an 84˚ wide-angle lens. It is backed up by a 3000mAh non-removable battery that can give a standby time of 32 days and a maximum 3G talk time of 18 hours according to Nokia.
It comes with connectivity options including 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB 2.0 and USB OTG. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the physical home button on the front panel and also comes with additional features like a 3.5mm audio jack, up and down dual speakers and a smart amplifier chip (TFA9891) with Dolby Atmos. It measures 154 x 75.8 x 7.8 mm. It was priced at 1699 CNY (around $246) in China and is expected to be available in other regions soon.
