Samsung has launched yet another smartphone in the Galaxy C series called Samsung Galaxy C8 which was expected to be launched as Galaxy C7 2017 according to earlier rumors. The device is the global variant of the recently launched Samsung Galaxy J7+ launched in Thailand.
Galaxy C8 Price
The device is launched in China today where it will be available in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colour options, however, the availability and pricing details have not been revealed yet by the company but are expected to be revealed soon. It comes with a metal unibody design and has a fingerprint scanner on the physical home button. The device was previously spotted listed by TENAA and FCC revealing the specifications and images of the device before its official unveiling.
Samsung Galaxy C8 Specifications
The Galaxy C8 features a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 Octa-Core (2.39GHz + 1.69GHz) 64-bit 16nm processor with ARM Mali T880 GPU. It comes with two variants with one having 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity while the second one having 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 256GB with microSD card slot. It runs on the Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) OS out of the box and comes with Dual SIMs.
It features a dual rear camera with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture and along with a 5-megapixel secondary camera with f/1.9 aperture. The device also comes with a 16-megapixel front camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. It is backed up by a 3000mAh battery and connectivity options includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4+5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the physical home button on the front. It measures 152.4 x 74.7 x 7.9mm and weighs 178 grams.
Galaxy C8 TENAA
The Samsung Galaxy C8 (SM-C7100) was spotted at TENAA with a 5.5-inch OLED Full-HD display with 1080 × 1920 pixels resolution and is powered by a 2.39GHz/1.69GHz Octa-Core processor. It comes with two variants: one has 3GB RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage capacity, while the second has 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity. The device also supports a MicroSD card slot supporting up to 256GB of expandable storage. The device runs on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box and is expected to support the Hybrid Dual-SIM option.
It features a dual rear camera with a dual 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash and it also comes with a 16-megapixel front camera with LED flash as well. It is backed up by a 2850mAh battery and connectivity options available are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 + 5GHz), Bluetooth v 4.2, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C. It measures 152.4 × 74.7 × 7.9 mm and weighs 178 grams. A fingerprint scanner is available with the physical home button on the front. The colour options available are black and gold. As discussed above, the TENAA listing for the model number SM-C7100 features similar to the SM-7108 model.
Galaxy C8 FCC
Galaxy C8 also got approved by the US FCC a few days back with two different model numbers including SM-C7100 and SM-C7108 that confirmed the dual rear camera setup for the device. It is the second device from Samsung with a dual rear camera as we are also expecting that company will launch the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone with a Dual rear camera as well. Now, Samsung has got the FCC approval for the Galaxy C8 smartphone but with a different model number SM-C710F which will be the global variant of the Galaxy C8
The FCC approval documents confirm that this global variant of the Galaxy C8 will have a dual SIM variant with model number SM-C710F/DS. The listing also comes with a screenshot from the device settings menu that confirms a downgraded 3000mAh battery for the device from the 3300mAh battery available with the Galaxy C7 2016.
Another file of FCC approval of the device comes with images of the device that show us the rear and front panel view including the dual rear camera setup that we have already seen in the TENAA listing of the device. The FCC listing further comes with some tests with the device and confirms that it will have connectivity options like 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, WiFi and other options as well.
