Sharp announced the Sharp Aquos R9 smartphone in May this year; today, the Japanese company launched the new Sharp Aquos R9 Pro phone at an event. This new device has a fully metal body, triple rear Leica camera, powered by the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, an IGZO OLED display and other top-end specifications.
Sharp Aquos R9 Pro Price and Availability
The new Sharp Aquos R9 Pro will be available for sale in Japan in Early December followed by a global launch in Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore. Still, there are no details available if it would be available anytime soon globally. The company has not revealed the price of the device yet but it is expected to be around US $1100.
Sharp Aquos R9 Pro Specifications
The new Sharp Aquos R9 Pro features a 6.7-inch Pro-IGZO OLED display with 1 to 240Hz variable refresh rate and Quad HD+ (3,120 x 1,440 pixels) resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform with octa-core (3.0-GHz + 2.8-GHz + 2.0-GHz) CPUs and Adreno 735 GPU. It has 12GB of RAM and 512GB of inbuilt storage capacity with no expandable MicroSD slot. It runs on Android version 14 out of the box with 3 OS upgrades and 5 years of software and security updates. It also supports dual-SIMs (nano + eSim).
It has a Triple rear Leica Camera AG system with a 50.3MP main CMOS 86° 1/0.98-inch wide-angle camera with F1.8 aperture, 23mm focal length, Optical image stabilizer, up to 20x, a secondary 122° ultra-wide angle 50.3MP CMOS lens with F2.2 aperture and 13mm focal length and a third 50.3MP telephoto 36° lens with F2.6 aperture, OIS, 2.8x optical zoom, Dolby Vision and 65 mm focal length. It has a shutter button on the side, which can be used to quickly launch the camera app by pressing and holding the shutter key and using fix focus by pressing it halfway. It has a 50.3MP front 84° wide-angle camera with F2.2 aperture and a 23 mm focal length.
It has a unique heat dissipation system that eliminates internal heat by combining heat diffusion from the surface of the main unit through the internal vapour chamber and heat dissipation via the camera ring, according to the company in a press release. It has a 5,000 mAh battery with wireless charging support, no details are available if it supports fast charging and other charging features. The device has IPX5/IPX8/IP6X ratings, making it water- and dustproof. It has an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Max.
Connectivity options available are 5G SA/NSA, WiFi IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, NFC, USB Type-C and Bluetooth 5.4. It has stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos. This device also comes with Sharp’s Phone Assistant generative AI function which can display and summarize voice messages as text and can also extract keywords from conversations and save them as notes. This device measures 162 x 78 x 9.3mm and weighs 229 grams.
