Sony has finally launched the much-awaited flagship smartphone the Sony Xperia 5 II in an official event. The Xperia 5 II comes with 4K HDR 120fps slow-motion movie recording making it the world’s first phone to offer this feature, according to Sony. It has 8Gigs of RAM and runs out of the box on the Android 10 OS. It is priced at $950 and will be available for pre-order in the United States starting on September 29, 2020. It will start shipping on December 4, 2020, with a Black colour option. It comes with a dedicated shutter button, ZEISS T* coating for reduced reflection, and Gorilla Glass 6 protection on the rear side.

Xperia 5 II Specs
It features a 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED HDR BRAVIA X1 240Hz Motion cinema wide Display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and 2520×1080 pixels resolution. It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 7nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 650 GPU. It has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 1TB via a microSDXC card slot. It runs on the Android 10 OS and comes with hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD) slots.
It has a triple rear camera with a 12-megapixel main camera with Exmor RS sensor, f/1.7 aperture, Hybrid OIS/EIS, ZEISS optics, a 12-megapixel f/2.2 aperture 124° ultra-wide-angle, and a 12-megapixel f/2.4 aperture telephoto third lens with Hybrid OIS/EIS, 3x optical zoom. It also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
It has a 4000mAh battery with USB-PD adaptive fast charging that can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes and supports 5G (sub-6GHz) / 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack connectivity options and stereo speakers + Dolby Atmos as well. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a water-resistant feature with IP65/IP68 ratings. It measures 158 x 68 x 8mm and weighs 163g.
Xperia 5 II At TENAA
TENAA listed the Sony Xperia 5 II with model number XQ-AS72 and comes with the device’s images. It confirms 5G connectivity and Dual-SIM support, but, there are no other details of its specifications on the TENAA listing available currently. According to the images from TENAA, on the front of the device, we have the 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED HDR Display and the power button is available on the right side which will also have the fingerprint scanner and two additional buttons.
On the back, we have a triple rear camera with dual-LED flash, Sony branding in the middle, and Xperia branding at the bottom. The device Sony XQ-AS72 looks similar to the Sony Xperia 1 II smartphone but we can see the difference when we check the camera part. The images also match with the device in a leaked video of the Xperia 5 II smartphone that evleaks leaked a few days back.
Xperia 5 II FCC
The device received the FCC certification that confirms that the new Sony Xperia 5 II will have the PY7-08372L model number and will have other features like Bluetooth, DTS/UNII a/b/g/n/ac/axe, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz), NFC and 4G LTE. The FCC listing, however, doesn’t mention the 5G connectivity option, but as the device is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor, it will have 5G connectivity.
Xperia 5 II Leaks
The FCC listing doesn’t confirm any of the other specifications of the device and there are also no images of the device in the listing. The Sony Xperia 5 II was also leaked by Evan Blass with leaked images of the device and recently the leakster shared a leaked promotional video of the device. According to the video, the device will be available with black and grey colour options.
