At IFA 2024 today, HMD has launched the new HMD Fusion smartphone which comes with a modular design where you can connect different cases for added features through a six-pin connector available on the rear side just like the Moto Mods which HMD refers to as “Smart outfits”. The smart outfits include Fusion Casual Outfit, Wireless Charging Outfit, Fusion Flashy Outfit and Fusion Rugged outfits are available on the HMD website. This new device also comes with Repair-it-yourself Gen2 repairability just like the recently launched HMD Skyline.

The new HMD Fusion is priced at £199 / €249 in Europe and will be available for sale soon. the device will also be launched for other markets including the United States.
HMD Fusion Specifications
The new HMD Fusion features a 6.56-inch IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate, up to 600 nits peak brightness, HD+ (720 x 1612 pixels) resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 4nm (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) processor with Adreno 613 GPU. It comes with 4GB/6GB/8GB/12GB of LPDDR4x RAM options and 128GB UFS 2.2 inbuilt storage option with MicroSD card expandable storage up to 1TB. The device runs on Android 14 OS and HMD has promised 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates. It supports Dual SIMs (nano + eSIM) as well.
Camera options include a dual rear camera with a 108-megapixel main camera, EIS, a 2-megapixel secondary portrait camera with f/2.4 aperture and LED flash. It also has a 50-megapixel front camera. It is backed up by a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and connectivity options available are 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, USB Type-C (USB 2.0), Analog audio output, OTG and also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The device comes with IP54 ratings making it dust and water-resistant. It measures 164.15×75.5×8.32 mm and weighs 202.5 grams. Audio features available are Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio supports low-latency, robust and high-resolution Bluetooth wireless audio, OZO Audio Playback and recording and 2 microphones.
