Sharp AQUOS R9 and AQUOS R9 Pro are coming? Last year, we saw Japanese Sharp launching the AQUOS R8 series smartphones that were powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors. The company is expected to launch the new AQUOS R9 series soon as the new Sharp AQUOS R9 or AQUOS R9 Pro model HRO00330 has got approval from the US FCC recently. The approval documents don’t leak any device pictures but it does leak some important specifications of the device. There is no confirmation yet if this model is the upcoming R9 series device but it can be the one from the upcoming flagships series.

AQUOS R9 Specs at FCC
The FCC documents list the model HRO00330 that will have 4G LTE bands (FDD) B2/B4/B5/B7/ B12/B13/B17, LTE (TDD) B38/B41, W-CDMA II/IV/V, and GSM 850/1900, WiFi IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. 5G is not indicated in the documents but we can expect to be added with the device launch.
Aquos R9 Battery at FCC
It has a 4870mAh (3.87V) battery manufactured by Murata Energy Device Wuxi Co.Ltd with wireless charging support which is higher than last year’s AQUOS R8 which had a 4,570 mAh battery while the bigger AQUOS R8 Pro had a 5,000mAh battery.
The phone uses Samsung’s semiconductors K3KL4L40DM-BGCT (DRAM LPDDR5X) and Micron’s MT62F1536M64D8CL-026 (DRAM LPDDR5) but no details about the total RAM capacity are available in the documents.
AQUOS R9’s other leaked specs
Using high-end specifications like IEEE802.11ax compliant Wi-Fi, wireless charging, and DRAM LPDDR5X/DRAM LPDDR5 indicates that this is the upcoming AQUOS R9 series device model. We have to wait and see for more details about this model number in the future leaks and news.
Sharp AQUOS R8 Specs
If we talk about the predecessor Sharp AQUOS R8, it was launched with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Pro IGZO OLED display with Dolby Vision and a 1-240Hz refresh rate. it was powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 4nm processor with Adreno 740 GPU and 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. There was 256GB UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage capacity expandable up to 1TB using a miroSD chip. It was launched with Android 13. The device has a dual rear camera with a 50.3MP main 1/1.55″ sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a secondary 13MP 118° ultra-wide sensor with f/2.3 aperture, EIS, Leica lens and LED Flash.
It had an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. We have a 4,570mAh battery with fast charging and 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), USB Type-C connectivity options. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor and other features are a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, IPX5 / IPX8 / IP6X) ratings and MIL-STD-810G rating.
