Xiaomi has finally launched its new Redmi series smartphones Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+ in an official event in China. These new high-end smartphones come with Snapdragon processors with Redmi K40 powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC while the other two feature Snapdragon 888 SoCs.

Redmi K40 Price
The Redmi K40 is priced at 1999 yuan (around $309) with 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage, 2199 yuan (around $340) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, 2499 yuan (around $387) for the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant and 2,699 yuan (around $418) for the 12GB RAM with 256GB storage variant.
Redmi K40 Pro Price
The Redmi K40 Pro is priced at 2799 yuan (around $433) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage option, 2999 yuan (around $646) for 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 3299 yuan (around $511) for 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant.
Redmi K40 Pro+ Price
The Redmi K40 Pro+ is priced at 3699 yuan (around $572) for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and will be available for sale by the end of March 2021. The K40 and K40 Pro are available for pre-orders in China and will go on sale from March 4th. All these smartphones will be available with Glossy Black, Icy White, and Dreamland colour options.
Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ Specs
These devices come with similar designs with a difference in specifications only. These phones feature a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED 20:9 HDR10 + display with MEMC, 120Hz refresh rate, 1300nit, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution. The Redmi K40 is powered by an octa-core (1 x 3.2GHz + 3 x 2.42GHz + 4 x 1.8GHz Hexa) Snapdragon 870 7nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 650 GPU while the Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi Pro+ are powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 888 5nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 660 GPU.
These devices come with multiple variants with 6GB / 8GB LPPDDR5 RAM with 128GB UFS 3.1 storage and 8GB / 12GB LPPDDR5 RAM with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options. These devices come with Dual SIM (nano + nano) support and run on the Android 11 OS-based MIUI 12 with MIUI 12.5 in the works as well. For the camera specs, the Redmi K40 features a triple-camera setup on the rear side with a 48-megapixel main camera with a 1/ 1.2″ Sony IMX582 sensor, f/1.79 aperture, LED flash, an 8-megapixel 119° ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture, and a 5-megapixel tele-macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.
The Redmi K40 Pro comes with a triple-rear camera as well as a 64-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.7″ Sony IMX686 sensor, f/1.89 aperture, LED flash, an 8-megapixel 119° ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel tele-macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. The Redmi K40 Pro+ also has a triple rear camera with a 108-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.52″ Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor, f/1.75 aperture, LED flash, an 8-megapixel 119° ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel tele-macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.
All these phones come with a 20-megapixel front-facing camera with 0.8μm pixel size and an f/2.4 aperture. All the phones have a 4520mAh battery with 33W wired QC3 + / PD3.0 fast charging support that can charge the phones from 0% to 100% in just 52 minutes. All have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor.
Connectivity options available are 5G SA/NSA (Dual SIM in Pro), Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (Wi-Fi 6E in Pro), Bluetooth 5.1 (Bluetooth 5.2 in Pro), GPS (L1 + L5), NavIC, NFC, USB Type-C. Audio features include USB Type-C audio, Hi-Res audio, Dual speakers and Dolby Atmos. All measure 163.7x 76.4 x 7.8mm and weigh 196 grams.
