Google has finally launched the much-awaited next-generation Pixel smartphones Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in an official event. The new Pixel smartphones come with OLED displays with a 90Hz refresh rate and are powered by the Snapdragon 855 SOC instead of the newly launched SD855 Plus. These new devices run on the Android 10 OS out of the box and will receive 3 years of Android updates and security updates.
The new Pixel devices come with the new Motion Sense feature powered by Project Soli that uses a miniature radar sensor to detect movement around your phone. It can sense when you’re going to pick up the phone initiate face unlock and turn off the device display when you’re not around.
The Pixel 4 is priced at $799 for the 64GB storage variant while the 128GB variant is priced at $899. The Pixel 4 XL is priced at $899 for the ^$GB variant while the 128GB variant is priced at $999. The device will be available with Just Black, Clearly White and Limited Edition Oh So Orange colour options and will be available for pre-order in the US and many other countries except India where it won’t be available according to Google.
It will start shipping from October 24. These new Pixel devices come with an Aluminum frame, and matte finish hybrid coating and have Soft-touch or polished glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back. Both the device also comes with IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Google Pixel 4 features a 5.7-inch FHD+ OLED 19:9display, 444 PPI, HDR support, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm Mobile Platform (Max 2.84GHz + 2.42Ghz + 1.8GHz) with Adreno 640 GPU. It comes with 6GB of DDR4X RAM with 64GB / 128GB inbuilt storage options.
It runs on the Android 10 OS out of the box and comes with Dual SIM support. It comes with a dual rear camera with a 12.2-megapixel camera with LED flash, 1.4μm pixel size, ƒ/1.7 aperture, 77° FOV, Dual PD autofocus, OIS, EIS, a 16-megapixel Telephoto lens, 1μm pixel size, f/2.4 aperture, Spectral + flicker sensor, 4K video recording at up to 30 fps, 720p at up to 240 fps.
It also has an 8-megapixel autofocus front camera with 1.22μm pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, 90° FOV, and 1080p 30fos video recording. It has a 2800mAh battery with 8W fast charging and Qi wireless charging. Connectivity options available are 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac 2x2MIMO (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, USB Type-C Gen 1, and NFC. It also comes with Active Edge support and comes with water and dust-resistant (IP68) features.
The device comes with a stereo speaker and 3 microphones. It measures 147.1 x 68.8 x 8.2mm and weighs 162 grams. The Pixel 4 XL comes with similar specifications to the Pixel 4 with some minor upgrades that include a bigger 6.3-inch Quad HD+ OLED 19:9 display, 537 PPI, HDR support, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection with 2960 x 1440 pixels resolution. It has a bigger 3700mAh battery and measures 160.4 x 75.1 x 8.2mm with 193 grams weight.
