A year-old Motorola’s mid-range flagships Moto G5 and G5 Plus have started receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo update in India, Brazil, and Mexico regions. The Android 8.1 Oreo soak test was started for the Moto G5 Plus users in India and Brazil back in July and today, the company has started the update rollout in the above-mentioned regions. The Android 8.1 Oreo comes with several features including Support for high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs such as LDAC codec, Revamped power menu, New Settings Menu, Keyboard navigation, Background limits, Notification channels, snooze notifications, Autofill APIs, Picture in Picture (PIP) display, Adaptive icons, Bluetooth Battery percentage, improved data saver, battery features, new power menu UI and Bluetooth improvements and others. The update also brings the latest security patch to the Moto G5 and G5 Plus smartphones according to Lenovo.

To recall, the Moto G5 was announced with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, the 1.4GHz octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 430 (MSM8937) processor with Adreno 505 GPU, 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage capacity, expandable storage up to 128GB with microSD card slot, the Android 7.1 (Nougat) OS out of the box, Single and Dual SIM options.

Other options include a 16-megapixel single rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1080p video recording, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with flash and f/2.0 aperture, a 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging, connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and GPS, water repellent nano-coating, a bottom-ported loudspeaker, a fingerprint sensor is available on the front physical home button. It measures 150×73.5×8.2mm and weighs 157 grams.

The bigger Moto G5 Plus was announced with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, the 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, expandable storage up to 128GB with microSD card slot, Android 7.1 (Nougat) OS out of the box, Single / Dual SIM options.

Other options available are a dual rear camera with 13-megapixel (RGB) + 13-megapixel (monochrome) dual rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with flash and f/2.0 aperture, a 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging, connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and GPS, water repellent nano-coating and has a bottom-ported loudspeaker. A fingerprint sensor is available on the front physical home button. It measures 153.5×76.2x8mm and weighs 168 grams.
