Chinese Xiaomi today announced their latest flagship devices Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE in an official event in China. Both the new device comes with top-notch displays and the device supports dual rear cameras with AI support.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Price
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is priced at 2699 yuan (around $421) for 6GB RAM with a 64GB internal storage variant and 2999 yuan (around $468) for 128GB and 256GB internal storage options. Top-end variant is priced at 3299 yuan (around $512).
Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition Price
Another Mi 8 Explorer Edition with a transparent back and an in-display fingerprint sensor is priced at 3699 yuan (around $577) and comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage capacity. It is currently up for pre-orders via Mi.com and will be available for sale in China from June 5th and will be available in Black, Blue, Gold and White colour options.
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Price
The Xiaomi Mi8 SE is priced at 1799 yuan (around $280) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage and 1999 yuan (around $312) for the 6GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage variant. It is also up for pre-orders in China via mmi.com and will be available in China from June 8th.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 features a 6.21-inch Full HD+ 18:7:9 AMOLED display with 600 nits brightness, 60000:1 contrast ratio, DCI-P3 colour gamut and 2248 × 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by a 2.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 64-bit 10nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 630 GPU. It comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB / 128GB / 256GB (UFS 2.1) internal storage options and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB (UFS 2.1) inbuilt storage in Mi 8 Explorer Edition. It runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9 and is upgradable to MIUI 10 and supports Dual SIMs as well.
It features dual rear camera with a 12-megapixel rear camera with 26mm wide-angle lens, 1/2.6″ Sony IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size, dual-tone LED flash, 4-axis OIS, Optical zoom, 4K video recording along with a secondary 12-megapixel camera with Samsung S5K3M3 sensor, f/2.4 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, 2X zoom. It also has a 20-megapixel front-facing camera with real-time AI portraits. It is backed up by a 3400mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+ fast charging while the Mi 8 Explorer Edition supports a 3000mAh with Quick Charge 4+ fast charging.
It has Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band (2×2 MU-MIMO ), Bluetooth 5, Dual-frequency (L1+L5) GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC, USB Type-C connectivity options and the Mi 8 comes with IR face unlock while the Mi 8 Explorer Edition supports 3D face unlock. The Mi 8 has a fingerprint sensor on the rear side while the Mi 8 Explorer Edition has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Mi 8 measures 154.9×74.8x 7.6 mm and weighs 175 grams while the Mi 8 Explorer Edition weighs 177 grams but has similar dimensions.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE features a 5.88-inch Full HD+ 18.7:9 AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display with 600 nits brightness, 60000:1 contrast ratio, DCI-P3 colour gamut and 2244×1080 pixels resolution and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 710 10nm Mobile Platform (Dual 2.2GHz Kryo 360 + Hexa 1.7GHz Kryo 360 CPUs) with Adreno 616 GPU. It has 4GB / 6GB LPDDR4x RAM along with 64GB (eMMC 5.1) internal storage capacity. It runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9 which is upgradable to MIUI 10. It supports Dual SIMs as well.
It features a dual camera with a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1.4μm pixel size, Dual PD, f/1.9 aperture along with a 5-megapixel secondary camera with 1.12um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture. It has a 20-megapixel front-facing camera and has a 3120mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. It comes with dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C and a fingerprint sensor on the rear side. The device comes with USB Type-C Audio and measures 147.28×73.09 x7.5mm with a weight of 164 grams.
Chinese Xiaomi previously announced via a forum post that it is holding an official event in China on 31st May where the company is going to launch its new flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 8 which will be the successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi 7 smartphone. The Xiaomi Mi 8 was expected to launch with the new MIUI 10 with Android Oreo and will have an on-screen fingerprint scanner.
The Chinese giant was also expected to launch some other products as the Xiaomi forum’s Super moderator posted, “We’re happy to announce that we’ll be launching not just one exciting new product, but MANY exciting new products! Which one are you looking forward to the most?“. Xiaomi also shared via a Twitter post that the Xiaomi Mi8 is a nod to their 8th anniversary on 31 May.
