HMD Global announces May 29 Moscow event, new Nokia devices coming

HMD has announced that it is hosting an official event on May 29 in Moscow where the company is expected to announce the 2018 variants of the Nokia 2, Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 smartphones. The company hasn’t confirmed anything about whether the 2018 editions are coming or not, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for the official event which is around 2 weeks away.

According to the released teaser by the company, the company’s CEO Florian Seiche, HMD’s CMO Pekka Rantala and CPO Juho Sarvikas will be present at the event. If we check out the rumours, the company might launch the new flagship Nokia 9 in the event as well.

As for the Nokia 2, it was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS along with a bigger 4100mAh battery that promises up to 2 days of battery life on a single charge. We can expect that the company will launch the new Nokia 2 2018 with Android 8.1 out of the box and will have an upgraded battery or it might be the same as it is.

The Nokia 3 was announced with a 5-inch HD display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 64-bit Processor with Mali T720 MP1 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and other specs and we can expect that the company will upgrade these features in the new Nokia 3 2018 edition. Lastly, the Nokia 5 might be getting a massive upgrade with an even bigger display from a 5.2-inch display to a 5.5-inch one. For other details, we have to wait for the official event on May 29 in Moscow.

It has a dual rear camera with a 16-megapixel (RGB) camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 1.0um pixel size along with a 5-megapixel (Monochrome) secondary rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.2um pixel size, a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.0um pixel size, a 3060mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging, a fingerprint sensor on the rear side and supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, Type-C, 3.5 mm headphone jack connectivity options along with FM Radio support. It measures 47.2 x 70.98 x 7.99~8.59mm and weighs 151 grams.
