The Chinese mobile company Coolpad Group Limited formerly known as China Wireless Technologies Limited is all set to launch its next device of this year, the Coolpad Cool M7 tomorrow, on 16th August in China. According to the Coolpad’s new teaser on Weibo, the main highlight of this phone is going to be its camera and they are marketing and advertising the device based on the camera, boasting about the night shots and the focusing speeds. But a phone can’t sell entirely based on only one specific feature so let’s find out what the phone is rumoured to come with.
A Weibo user shared some real images of the device and also shared the specifications of the device. In terms of processing power the Cool M7 is said to sport the Snapdragon 625 chipset by Qualcomm, the same old reliable chipset with 8 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The Snapdragon 625 has now become almost a common chipset among all midrange phones. Apart from this in the memory department, the device seems to be come loaded with 4GB of ram and 64GB of onboard storage.
Talking about the design and build quality the device looks quite similar to the Oneplus 5, the iPhone 7 and the Oppo R11 with a similar curved back and those seamless U-Shaped antenna lines which add more elegance to the design. The front of the device comes with a circular Fingerprint sensor exactly like the iPhone design and a 2.5D curved glass on top of the Full-HD LCD panel.
In terms of camera, the device comes with a 13MP front camera which looks quite good on paper and a 12MP rear-facing camera powered by a dual-tone LED flash beside it. We were quite disappointed not to see a Dual-Camera setup this time from Coolpad as we saw on the Cool 1.
In the software department, the Cool M7 comes with a custom-skinned version of Android 7.1.1 called the Journey UI, a skin made by in-house Coolpad developers. Although there isn’t any word on battery capacity we can expect a 3000+ mAh battery capacity. The device is said to launch tomorrow at a Coolpad event to be held at the JW Marriott hotel in Shenzhen, China and will be available for China only. There are no words for when the device will be launched globally. There is no confirmed word about the price of the device yet.
