Motorola launched the Moto G5 and G5 Plus smartphones at the MWC 2017 event in February this year with mid-range specifications. Motorola has just announced the two new variants of the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones, with the names Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus with improved specifications. Out of these two new phones, the bigger G5S Plus features a dual rear camera setup and is the second Motorola device to feature the dual camera on the rear side after the Moto Z2 Force. Both phones come with a full metal unibody design and have a fingerprint sensor on the front physical home button just like the old Moto G5 and G5 Plus smartphones.

Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus Price
As for the pricing of these new devices, the G5S is priced at 249 Euros (around $294) and the Moto G5S Plus is priced at 299 Euros (around $353). The G5S comes with Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colour options while the G5S Plus comes with Lunar Gray and Blush Gold color options. These phones will be available for sale in several regions globally starting this month and will also be available in the US this fall. Both phones come with Micro USB ports but no Type-C ports and the bigger Moto G5S Plus comes with a new Nigh Display and Quick Reply features as well.
Moto G5S specs
The Moto G5S features a 5.2-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection and 1920 x 1080Â pixels resolution and is powered by the 1.4GHz octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 430Â (MSM8937) processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes with 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage capacity that is also expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card slot. It runs on the Android 7.1 (Nougat) OS out of the box and supports Single and Dual SIMs.
It features a 16-megapixel single rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1080p video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with flash and f/2.0 aperture. It comes with a 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging and connectivity options available are 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and GPS. It comes with water-repellent nano-coating and has a bottom-ported loudspeaker. A fingerprint sensor is available on the front physical home button. It measures 150×73.5×8.2mm and weighs 157 grams.
Moto G5S Plus specs
The bigger Moto G5s Plus features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection and 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by the 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage capacity with both supporting expandable storage up to 128GB with microSD card slot. It runs on the Android 7.1 (Nougat) OS out of the box and supports Single and Dual SIMs.
It comes with a dual rear camera with 13-megapixel (RGB) + 13-megapixel (monochrome) dual rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with flash and f/2.0 aperture. A 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging is available and connectivity options available are 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and GPS. It comes with water-repellent nano-coating and has a bottom-ported loudspeaker. A fingerprint sensor is available on the front physical home button. It measures 153.5×76.2x8mm and weighs 168 grams.
Moto G5S and G5S Plus Leaks
Evleaks or Evan Blass posted, that the G5S Plus might be launched on July 25th in New York along with dual rear cameras and upgraded other specifications. He also shared an image that confirmed three colour options for the device including Black, Silver and Rose Gold. According to evleaks, G5S Plus will be made of a more premium material and eschews a plastic enclosure for anodized aluminum.
G5S at FCC
The device was also spotted in FCC approval documents that confirm that this device comes with dual-SIMs support and is powered by a Snapdragon processor model MSM8937 that is the Snapdragon 430 processor that also comes with an Adreno 505 GPU. The documents also confirm that this new device will be powered by a 3000mAh battery. The device comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G, GPS and other connectivity options, however, no other details about this device were available with the FCC approval documents.
G5S Leaked Images
The company’s Brazil division previously issued a teaser (via) that comes with a girl taking a selfie on the new Moto device which might be the Moto Z2 or the Moto G5S or something else. Some leaked images of the G5S Plus confirmed four colour options and a dual rear camera setup. The colour options include Gold, Grey, Silver and White Gold and past rumours confirmed, that the G5S and G5S Plus will both feature a metal body and a front-facing flash.
