Samsung is all set to unveil the new Samsung Galaxy Note FE (Fan Edition) which is the refurbished variant of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone launched last year. A Korean carrier LG UPlus has confirmed the launch of the device via their Facebook page (via gsmarena). Earlier, rumours confirmed that the Galaxy Note FE might be launched on July 7 and the Korean carrier has now confirmed the same for Korea. Even Korean phone stores have started showing the ad for smartphone launches.
Galaxy Note FE specs
The Galaxy Note FE already received FCC approval last month with the SM-N935KOR model number and other model numbers like SM-N935K, SM-N935L SM-N935K and SM-N935S. The Galaxy Note FE will feature the same specifications as the original Galaxy Note 7 but will have a smaller battery of 3200 mAh instead of the 3500 mAh in the Note 7.
The Galaxy Note 7 was launched back last year featuring a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED curved dual edge display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 2560×1440 pixels resolution, an Octa-Core Exynos 8890 (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad), 64 bit, 14 nm processor / Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage capacity, expandable storage up to 256GB with microSD card, Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow), Hybrid Dual SIM, a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, dual-pixel PDAF, Smart OIS, f/1.7 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/1.7 aperture.
Other specs of the device were a 3500mAh battery with fast charging and wired and wireless charging support, 4G LTE Cat.12, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2X2 MIMO), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, USB Type-C and also comes with S Pen stylus, Heart rate sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Iris scanner, Barometer. It measures 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9mm and weighs 169g. Colour options include Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx.
The Korean giant is also rumoured to launch the next-gen Galaxy Note called Galaxy Note 8 in September according to Evan Blass. He also confirmed that the Galaxy Note 8 will be priced around €999 making it the most expensive phone from the company until now. According to Evan Blass, the Note 8 might feature a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and is similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones.
The Galaxy Note 8 will be powered by the Exynos 8895 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which will be region based. The device will have 6GB of RAM and will be the second device from the company getting more than 4GB of RAM, previously Galaxy C9 Pro was launched with 6GB of RAM. It will run on the Android O 8.0 OS out of the box and might feature Hybrid Dual SIMs in some regions.
It will be the first Samsung phone to feature a dual camera on the rear side with two 12-megapixel sensors and will have independent optical image stabilization for the lens. Evleaks further claims that the camera lenses will be configured horizontally, and will be placed to the left of the flash and heart rate sensor. The fingerprint scanner will be placed on the rear side just like the Galaxy S8 Duo, it will be placed on the rear panel to the right of the flash and heart rate sensor.
The device will be backed up by the same 3300mAh battery that powered the Galaxy Note 7. The device will have an improved S-Pen that will allow its users to perform full-sentence language translation and currency conversion, It will also have an added ability to pin handwritten notes to the always-on display. It will be available in black, blue, and gold colour options.
